The Country House Sale at Tennants Auctioneers will see a host of good traditional art, antiques and furnishing items come under the hammer in a two-day sale on 16th and 17th May. The first day will comprise “The Selected Contents of Scorborough Lodge from the estate of Stephen Thornley- Wilson”, a traditional mixed estate of nearly 200 lots.

A good mix of traditional and sporting art include works by Thomas Rowlandson, John Trickett, David Shepherd, Franz Xaver Petter and an interesting 18th century English School Naval Figures Before a Coastline and Landscape with Castle, with provenance from the Estate of the Late Lord Lloyd of Berwick (1929-2024).

Along with a good selection of clocks and rare rugs are good seated furniture including a Pair of Prince of Wales Investiture Chairs designed by Lord Snowdon for the Investiture at Caernarfon Castle on 1st July 1966. There is also a good offering of garden furniture and ornaments.

The sale will also include a range of quirky country house items such as 17th/18th Century Trenchers, and an Early 20th Century Cast Iron Duck Decoy.
