The upcoming specialist coins, banknotes, and tokens sale at Tennants offers a diverse selection of high-quality lots to appeal to numismatists of all interests. The sale includes ancient, hammered, and milled coins, both British and foreign, as well as an interesting collection of 18th-century tokens, Maundy money, and banknotes. Of particular note is an exceptional collection of coins from the late Michael Whiteley, president of The Yorkshire Numismatic Society in 2000, featuring Roman, hammered, and milled coins, including high-grade Georgian and Victorian silver coinage.

The gold section boasts some excellent 17th and 18th-century British gold coinage, including a Charles I gold unite, a George II, two guineas 1738, and a rare George III guinea 1763, all in highly collectable grades. These coins are in addition to a range of Victorian and modern gold coins.

Maundy sets are also well represented in the sale, with many sets in their original cases, mainly from the 19th and 20th centuries. The earliest set on offer is a Charles II Maundy set 1679. Collectors of tokens will be delighted to find a good number of 18th-century provincial tokens, many in top grades, including a lot of four choice Thomas Spence tokens.

The sale also includes a superb example of a 17th-century marriage medal by renowned medallist Sebastian Dadler, in good very fine or better condition. Finally, the sale boasts a significant number of modern Royal Mint silver proofs and commemorative coinage. Overall, the sale offers a wide variety of quality lots that will surely appeal to collectors of all numismatic fields.
