Rare Meissen porcelain from private collections is set to go under the hammer in the Autumn Fine Sale, led by a rare Meissen Porcelain Goldchinesen Teapot and Cover, which was decorated in the Augsberg workshop of Abraham Seuter, circa 1725. Also on offer are two Meissen Porcelain Armorial Plates from the Ferrero service, which was made circa 1740 for Carlo Francesco Vincenzo Ferrero, the Marquese d’Ornea (1680-1745), who held various ministerial posts under the Kings of Sardinia, as well as being Ambassador to the Saxon Court in Dresden. There are relatively few pieces of this service recorded. Finally, there is a charming Pair of Meissen Porcelain Figures of Swans, made circa 1750 and modelled by Johann Joachim Kaendler.
Further notable lots in the sale include a bronze of the 1863 Derby Winner ‘Macaroni’ with his jockey Tom Chaloner, signed ‘I Bonheur’, a good French Boulle-Marquetry Bureau Plat and an interesting Striking Pull Quarter Repeat Table Clock by one of the finest clockmakers of the 18th century John Ellicott.
