The British, European and Sporting Art Sale is set to contain a host of interesting portraits, landscapes and genre paintings, alongside sporting art. The sale includes pictures with provenance from the collection of British businessman Sir Graham Wylie, and a Private Collection of Sporting Art from Norfolk that offers works by Archibald Thorburn (1860-1935).
Amongst the genre pictures in the sale are works by the Hunt family of artists, who were based in the Midlands and known for their finely painted scenes of idealised rural scenes of farmyard animals, executed in the shadows of war and increasing urbanisation and industrialisation.
The sale will be part of the Summer Fine Week at Tennants, and will run alongside the Summer Fine Sale, the Fine Jewellery, Watches and Silver Sale, the Asian Art Sale, and the Transport Sale.
