Quarto, 20th century quarter calf, paper boards. Some light age-toning and dust-soiling, but generally very good/fine, fore and bottom edges stained yellow.

An excellent volume of Dalrymple's Charts and Memoirs. These charts are relatively rare at auction, particularly as bound volumes.

"Dalrymple was cumulatively a private publisher of nautical charts and plans (from 1767), the ''examiner of ships' journals'' and chart publisher for the East India Company (from 1779), and Hydrographer to the Admiralty (from 1795)" (Cook). "Between 1769 and 1771 Dalrymple published charts and navigational memoirs, chiefly from his 1760s voyages, to support his plan for a trading settlement at Balambangan, but he was dismissed in March 1771 from the East India Company's planned expedition after a disagreement over its composition."
