In good original unlined condition, there is thick impasto across most of the surface and it appears to have been painted on a rather broadly woven canvas. It may have never been varnished. There is some surface dirt but this is minimal. It is contained within a typical 1930's silvered and partially painted blue plaster and wooden frame, the outer plasterwork is cracking quite severely.
