A Brass Striking Lantern Clock, the case with pierced frets, turned brass finials, 6-1/2-inch...

A Brass Striking Lantern Clock, the case with pierced frets, turned brass finials, 6-1/2-inch chapter ring with Roman numerals and a inner minute track, dial centre with floral engraved decoration and bearing later inscription John Davis Windsor, single brass hand, two train movement with countwheel striking on a top mounted bell, 38cm high

Sold for £300
Estimated at £300 - £500

12.05.11, Case brass work is faded and needs cleaning, single hand has been repaired at some time, chapter ring is faded and needs re-silvering, both side doors are missing, top bell mount has come loose and needs re-locating with new pins into the holes, movement looks dirty and needs cleaning, weight and pendulum are missing, after inspection of the clock this item in my opinion is a copy and not by John Davis Windsor due to witness of spinning marks to the side of the chapter ring which this would have been cast brass in those days and the other brass parts have small ware and also the movement with minor ware to the plates.
