In good original unlined condition, however, there is quite a bit of paint loss along the bottom edge through the rocks with further lifting paint around these areas. It does rather disturb the signature in the lower left corner, with a further smaller area of missing paint in the lower right corner. There is good thick impasto throughout the composition and delicately applied glazing to the dogs. There is some surface and dirt and crackelure in places and is contained within a plain outer gilt plaster and wooden frame which has been relgilded, and a regilded plain wooden inner slip. (220410)
