In restored condition. Slightly stiffly relined, cleaned and revarnished. Surface is slightly flattened, and the paint is thin in places as a result of the restoration process. Enclosed to the reverse of the canvas. Fine and sporadic retouches to the sky on the right hand side. Slightly with further retouches of a similar scale to the left hand side with more consistent strengthening across some of the wispier clouds of a pink and peach tone. Some of the darkest tones and shadows to denote the grassy tufts on the left hand side hillside have received some relatively sporadic retouching. Further delicate retouching and strengthening to denote the outline and shadows of the small stones within the foreground lower left. With further odd sporadic retouching within the receding dark-coloured shale at the edge of the water at which the cattle are drinking. The brown-coloured cow also has a minimal amount of retouching and strengthening to the outline and shadows. Sporadic retouches across the central and right hand side mountains, with some linear strengthening through the outcrop and buildings at the front of these. The largest of the birds just above water level probably strengthened, including each shadow and the smaller birds towards the distance. Retouch to lower right hand corner. Two small retouches above and just left of the signature, no more than 0.5cm across, and another smaller than this 2cm above the 'B', within the water. Signature with some likely strengthening.
