. in good restored condition. possibly clean in the last 20-30 years. the back of the canvas has been painted and a L shaped tear stitched together, The repaired tear can just be made out from the front to the top right hand side of the sitters head next to his hair. areas of overpaint to background and bottom centre of the canvas to sitters waistcoat. thick varnish. small area of retouching to sitters nose.
