Lined, all keys present, good tension. Original tacking margins removed, as can be seen at top edge where canvas has slipped in the frame. Network of old brittle age craquelure, stable and flat. Fairly widespread old restored losses, some possibly tears given their size. Extensive old abrasion and thinning of paint layers, much of which has been suppressed by a fairly extensive campaign of retouching (see images in ultraviolet light). Some of the overpaint is discoloured. Newer unrestored scratches in two patches, top left and bottom right. Futher minor scuffs and scratches. A fairly even varnish, not appreciably discoloured. Old ingrained dirt and varnish. Light surface dirt.
