Norbanus Denarius, (3.84 grams. 19.7 mm), AR, Circa, 83 BC, obv. head of Venus right, C NORBANVS below, control numeral behind IIXX, rev. corn-ear, fasces with axe and caduceus, (Babelon Norbana 2. Sydenham 739, Crawford 357/1b), Extremely Fine with beautiful old cabinet tone. An exceptional example *Ex NN auction 47, ex John Wells collection.

The upcoming coin and banknote sale will feature an interesting and diverse selection of coins. From Roman coins to modern proof sets the sale has coins to appeal to a wide range of collectors. Of particular note are two proof sets minted to celebrate the coronations of George V and George VI respectively, a nice selection of Roman Republic and Imperial coinage including a scarce Roman Republic denarius of M. Cato, and four examples of the ‘Kew Gardens’ 50p designed by Christopher Le Brun.
