After working for many years as a sign printer, Leigh Cooke then studied at Manchester Metropolitan University as a mature student. His degree show attracted the attention of John Miles from the Royal Academy and this recognition led to his work being included in the New Designers Show in Islington and the Text Print Exhibition in Baker Street where he won the Pantone Inc. View of Colour Award in 1995. He then went on to work for the luxury goods house Salvatore Ferragamo and in 2001 he received his first commission from Hermes who continue to use his designs.
