Each marked underneath with maker's mark and further stamped with standard mark '12' and town mark. There is some wear to the marks, though each is generally clear. There is some overall surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. There is a bruise to one foot so one salt leans slightly when placed on a level surface. One shell thumbpiece has perhaps been reattached. The sale-cellars are heavily tarnished.

An eclectic and decorative mixture of antiques and contemporary art will be coming under the hammer this autumn, when the Selected Contents of Bell Hall, Naburn, York, will appear in a single-owner sale at Tennants Auctioneers on 15th November.
The collection was put together over several decades, and draws together good period oak furniture, folk art, 19th century samplers, and Asian art alongside modern and contemporary paintings, ceramics and works of art, many pieces with an animal theme.
