A George IV Scottish Silver Punch-Bowl, by David McDonald, Glasgow, 1826, tapering cylindrical and on spreading foot, the sides chased with foliage, scrolls and rocaille on a matted ground, centring a cartouche with an engraved inscription and above a coat-of-arms, 26cm diam., 38oz 7dwt

The inscription reads 'Presented to William Tomlinson Esq'r London by Alexander McWhinnie, John McWhinnie & Mrs Nicholas Scott, surviving children of Agnes Nairn, Wife of Gilvert McWillie, Glasgow and Sister to the late George Nairn of Queen St. London as a Memorial of respect from them being an old acquaintance of their Uncles also for his attention in their interest at the final settlement of his affairs Glasgow, Nov'r 1828.'

. Fully marked near rim. The marks have some minor wear. but are still legible. There is some overall light surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. There is some discolouration to the silver on the surface below the chasing. The gilding inside is somewhat pale.
