The European Magazine.
A collection of engraved portraits issued with The European Magazine.
Printed for James Asperne, no date [c.1807], 259 portrait plates. The majority of the portraits and views (550 subjects) which were originally issued with the first fifty-four volumes of the magazine, were subsequently issued in two volumes by James Asperne following his purchase of the magazine in 1806. Each volume contained upwards of 250 portraits and views. This collection contains only the portraits, variously dated from 1782 to 1807 (some staining and watermarking in places). The first leaf (only), from a printed list of the plates, forms a title page. Recent full calf binding.
