A Pair of 19th Century Percussion Duelling Pistols by John Manton & Son, London, 28 bore, each with 25cm octagonal blued steel barrel marked on the top flat DOVER STREET LONDON, the underside numbered 6028, with no visible proof marks, silver blade fore-sight, notched rear sight, the tang engraved with foliate/martial trophy, with blued hammer, the foliate engraved steel lock plate signed JNo.MANTON & SON and with slide safety, the spurred trigger guard engraved with martial trophy and numbered 6028, with pineapple finial, two steel ramrod pipes, walnut half stock with horn fore-end tip, chequered bag butt with silver escutcheon engraved B.v.A,,39cm, contained in the original mahogany case with inset brass ring handle to the hinged cover opening to reveal a later green baize lined case fitted with original accessories of ivory powder flask with brass syringe type measure, nipple key, brush, steel bullet mould, lignum vitae mallet with brass screw end, brass jag, cap tin and lead balls. (Some restoration)
Provenance:- Originally the property of Baron von Arnsdorf, Germany. Survived a bombing raid during the Second World War when they were buried under rubble. Acquired from the vendor's German friend.

. Actions work, holding at full and half cock. One pistol has deep pitting to the lock plate, barrel tang ramrod pipes and underside of the barrel. Both pistols have wear to the extremities and bruising to the stocks. The case has been restored and has some splits to the cover.
