See Howard (David Sanctuary) Chinese Armorial Porcelain, pg.260 where it is discussed that this service was made for William Henry, 4th Earl of Rochfort of St Osyth's Abbey in Essex, descendant of Henry Frederick de Nassau, Prince of Orange and who was Ambassador at Madrid and Versailles. It is also noted that the correct motto "Spes Durat Avorum" (The Hope of Ancestors Endures) is mis-spelt on some pieces "Spes Durat Amorum" (The Hope of Our Love Endures)

The Summer Fine Sale offers nearly 450 lots of ceramics, Asian art, clocks, rugs, works of art and furniture, including a collection of 19th century Terracotta Campagna Urns from Raby Castle, County Durham, a Lock of Florence Nightingale's Hair, and a French Alabaster Figure Group of the Holy Family, probably made in South West France in the late 14th century. A Private Collection of English Pottery will be offered in twenty-three lots, including numerous Prattware and Creamware figures, and the sale will also include pieces of fine 19th century furniture and good early oak and walnut furniture.
