Ernest Harrison trained at the Keswick School of Industrial Arts, from 1908, and worked at the school until the outbreak of the war. When he returned from service he worked as a postman and a craft metalworker in the iron-room formerly used by the school. He was re-employed at the school from 1933 until 1964 after which he worked part-time. He marked his private works with the stamp: E HARRISON KESWICK.

On offer in the June 20th Century Design Sale will be the Michael Claxton Collection, an extraordinary collection of over 350 pieces of British pottery put together between 1974 and 2024, the majority of which were purchased directly from the potters. Potters represented in the collection include David Leach, Richard Batterham, David Roberts, Philip Marston, and Jim Malone.
The sale will also include a good private collection of furniture by Stanley Webb Davies, a fine large Lancastrian Lustre Vase by Gordon Forsyth for Pilkington's Tile & Pottery Co, and a good range of Mouseman and the Yorkshire Critters furniture and furnishings.
