WWII RAF, album of photographs and postcards relating to the air war around the Med and North...

WWII RAF, album of photographs and postcards relating to the air war around the Med and North Africa. Oblong 8vo, limp leather wrappers; pp. 46 with varying numbers of pictures laid down.
There are few obvious identifying marks to accurately position the photographer geographically. One photograph shows a man reading the Egyptian Mail and others show clearly Egyptian archaeological sites, however one refers to Ta-Kali, Malta, and three postcards are labelled Durban. The photographer certainly seems to have been involved in the North Africa/Mediterranean but being definitive is difficult. The juxtaposition of pictures shows the grim contrast of war, with young men lazing around in endless sand followed immediately with burning aircraft and funeral services. There are several pages of more 'touristy' shots (interiors of churches and market traders) but the war always returns with pictures of bombing runs on ships and flak over townscapes.

Sold for £70

. Some photographs with variable fading, one double-page leaf detached but present, two photographs loosely inserted.
