George V, 'Long' Gold Coronation Proof Set 1911, 12 coins comprising: £5, double sovereign, sovereign, half sovereign, halfcrown, florin, shilling, sixpence and full Maundy set (S.PS11); mintage of only 2,812 sets; with original box which is in a poor condition, some gentle toning to the silver, some light hairlines on gold, with some deeper scratches to the half sovereign, overall a very attractive set, with the exception of the half sovereign all coins UNC- nFDC

The upcoming coin and banknote sale will feature an interesting and diverse selection of coins. From Roman coins to modern proof sets the sale has coins to appeal to a wide range of collectors. Of particular note are two proof sets minted to celebrate the coronations of George V and George VI respectively, a nice selection of Roman Republic and Imperial coinage including a scarce Roman Republic denarius of M. Cato, and four examples of the ‘Kew Gardens’ 50p designed by Christopher Le Brun.
