A Comprehensive Early 20th Century Uniform to Major G O Sandys, Westmorland & Cumberland Yeomanry, with rank badges for Lieutenant and Major, comprising:- two full dress scarlet tunics with silver lace frogging, Austrian knots and ball buttons, one trimmed with rabbit fur; a pair of blue wool trousers with silver lace side stripes; a mess dress tunic and waistcoat; two pairs of black leather Wellington boots; a pair of black leather long boots with silver bullion oval rosettes and wood trees, in a fitted black tin; a black sable busby with crimson bag and two plumes - one of crimson vulture feathers and white horsehair, one of crimson vulture feathers and white ostrich feathers, each in tin tube, the busby in its tin case; a crimson cord and gilt metal tubular link girdle; silver cord aiguillette; crimson morocco and silver lace shoulder belt with silver pouch, chains and prickers, keeps and slides with hallmarks for Birmingham 1911, with stable belt and sword slings; a bullion thread embroidered scarlet wool and morocco pouch in morocco sleeve; a cased pair of parcel gilt white metal dress box spurs; two pairs of silver plated rowel spurs; two peaked caps, one with bullion cap badge; three sword knots, two shoulder cords and a black horse hair horse plume/beard, all contained in japanned metal trunk **A full length oil portrait of Major Sandys wearing the above uniform was recently sold by Tennants, Lot 1191 5th May 2017
