Natural History/Skulls: A Cased Recreation of a Thylacine Skull (†Thylacinus cynocephalus), modern, a life size cast of an adult male specimen, directly taken from the only known privately held example outside of a museum, mounted upon a supporting metal bracket, enclosed within a five-glass wooden framed table display case, 38cm by 22cm by 31.5cm. The male Thylacine was trapped by G. Wainwright at Woolnorth, North West Tazmania on the 1st of March 1910, it was sold alive to Mrs M. Roberts owner of the Beaumaris Zoo, who shipped it to London Zoo the following day, arriving in London on the 18th of April 1910. In July of 1910, ex American president Theodore Roosevelt whilst visiting London made a special trip to the Zoo to see the newly arrived Tasmanian Tiger. After four and a half years in captivity the unfortunate creature became very ill and was humanely euthanized on the 20th of November 1914. Because of the poor condition of the animal, and that it had a deformed front leg due to being trapped as a juvenile, only the skull was retained. It was prepared and preserved by Edward Gerrard of Camden Town, London, sadly the last captive held Thylacine died and became extinct in the 1936 at Hobart Zoo, Tasmania
