Taxidermy: A Pair of Snow Leopard Rugs (Panthera uncia), circa 1920-1930, South Asia, Northern India, a pair of adult flat skins, flat heads, with limbs outstretched, one example nose to tail 170cm, across the forelimbs 125cm, the second example nose to tail 185cm, across the forelimbs 109cm, each backed onto later brown felt backing material with serrated edge (2)

Brought back from India by the vendor's Great Aunt who lived there in the early part of the 20th century, inherited thereafter by the vendor around 30 years ago, kept within the family attic as no family member liked them.

Estimated at £2,000 - £3,000


 

. both examples have deep fur pile, no claws remain within either skin, one example has lost the toes to the front left paw and rear right, each attached to later backing material, 05/08/21
