relating to the proposed Summer Games (Helsinki & Tokyo) and Winter Games (St Moritz & Garmisch) consisting cloth badges illustrating: ski jump, sailing, ice skating, Olympic rings, ski slalom, tennis, swimming and others, each set on light card backing stamped with 'Minimum Order' amount, a serial number and each dated (earliest 1936, latest 1939)
The 1940s Olympic Games was one of the three Olympics to be cancelled during it's history due to war. The summer games was due to be held in Tokyo Japan from September 21-October 6, historically it was the first non-western city to win an Olympic bid, however due to the Sino Japanese War the games were relocated to Helsinki, Finland, which was ultimately cancelled due to the start of World War II and Germany invading Poland
