A Crimea Medal, 1854, with four clasps ALMA, BALAKLAVA, INKERMANN and SEBASTOPOL, awarded to DRIVR. F.MERTON, R.H.A., with photocopied research material, including photocopies of medal rolls for C Troop, Royal Horse Artillery in which 1111 Francis Merton is recorded.
Footnote :- 'C' and 'I' Troops, Royal Horse Artillery were present throughout the campaign in the Crimea, attached to the Cavalry division. They were the only Horse Artillery to qualify for all four clasps, and were detailed by Lord Raglan to support the Light Brigade at Balaklava. C Troop also supported the Heavy Brigade.

The sale will include a large selection of Victorian, First and Second World War and Post-War medals and Civil awards, and a variety of cap and other badges, cloth insignia and helmet plates.
A good private collection offers Victorian and Edwardian military headgear and a number of scarlet tunics to local regiments including the Duke of Wellington’s (West Riding) Regiment, the Green Howards (Alexandra, Princess of Wales's Own Yorkshire Regiment) and the Northumberland Fusiliers.
Edged weapons include a private collection of British Cavalry swords, alongside bayonets and fighting knives; and from a further private vendor is a good collection of antique firearms, pistols and revolvers.
The ethnographic section of the sale will see notable tribal weapons from Fiji and Australia.
