The Lehenga also known as the Ghagra Choli has been worn since the 10th century usually on ceremonial occasions, festivals and weddings, comprising a long skirt, 'Choli' or fitted blouse leaving the midriff bare, 'dupatta' sari is worn as a cover up, generally all the pieces are heavily embroidered and embellished. Zardosi is the name for the gold and silver thread embroidered work.
