Sold for £1,700
Estimated at £1,000 - £1,500
In restored condition. Fairly heavily cleaned and re-varnished. The shadowing and definition of the standing figure's face on the left hand side has been re-touched as have some of the delicate detailing of the game laying on the ground to the left hand side as well as the bridal of the horse, the definition of the mane, and the definition of the dog. There has been delicate retouching to old flaked paint, to the second catch within the central foreground and also the hind leg of the seated dog on the left hand side. The upper parts of the farthest away mountains have also had relatively minor restoration. The surface of the painting is somewhat flattened from the restoration process and the paint is thin in places, particularly within the sky and the face of the left hand side figure. Minor rubbing to outer edges.
