Derived from the first Midget the - M Type - and introduced in 1933, the two-seater J2 Created the classic MG Sports Car looks that would remain until the 1950's. This particular vehicle Presented in Green is one of only 2082 - J2s produced between 1932-1934, less than 1480 were fitted with the cycle style fenders as fitted to this vehicle. The later vehicles were fitted with the swept wings and running boards. Owned by its current keeper for the last 37 years this local car is now In need of recommissioning , fitted 18" wheels and having covered less than 100 miles since the last M.O.T in June 1987.
Last running and taxed in 1990 (Tax Disc present with the vehicle). The vehicle has been garaged since and the engine has been regularly turned over on the handle. Vehicle comes with some old mot certificates, a limited history of receipts, parts catalogues and instruction manual. Along with a quantity of spares including: exhaust system, steering wheel, dash panel, 19" spare wheel, hood frame, side screen frames, and two boxes containing various parts.
Records show that the car was built on 9 June, 1933 and released for sale on 1 August of that year. The registration mark WV 3826 is original to the car. The first owner was a L.Delmege of Cricklade, Wiltshire. After him we know of a previous owner named M.R. Simmons, the only other record of ownership after that being a Peter R. Wright who is listed as the current owner.
When new, the car was black with red trim.
It has been given a Triple-M register number 987 which will stay with the car for the remainder of its life regardless of change of ownership
