The brooch is in good condition with slight wear commensurate with age. It fastens with a pin and c-hook catch. Originally with ivory plaque to the reverse inscribed 'Adml Ld Nelson Frances D 21 Oct. 1805' which has been removed. It bears no hallmark nor stamp but in our opinion would test as gold.
