A Victorian Silver Waiter
by Edward and John Barnard, London, 1857

shaped circular and on three scroll-cast feet, engraved with foliage scrolls centring a coat-of-arms, engraved underneath with an inscription
22.5cm diameter, 11oz 13dwt, 363gr

The inscription reads 'Presented to Colonel Gilbert Hogg, on his retirement form the office of Chief Constable of the Borough of Wolverhampton, in appreciation of the high esteem in which he was held as an Officer, Companion and Friend MDCCCLVII'.

Fully marked under border. The marks are generally clear. Further stamped '274'. There is some overall surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. The wear is noticeable as a softening to the high points and the engraving. There are some small bruises.
