Taxidermy: An East African or Patterson's Eland (Taurotragus oryx pattersonianus), dated 1933, Kisigao, Kenya Colony, East Africa, by Peter Spicer & Sons, Taxidermists, Leamington, a large adult bull shoulder mount looking straight ahead, right horn 79.5cm, left horn 78cm, tip to tip 40cm, from the wall 81cm, height 112cm, mounted upon an oval shaped oak shield, bearing ivorine plaque "Eland, Taurotragus Oryx Pattersonianus, Kisigao, Kenya Colony, Col.L. Ropner, 1933", taxidermist's impressed trade stamp to verso
shrinkage split to right eye moving back from eye towards horn, some minor filler loss around gumline, both ear tips bent with splits to the back of the ear, in need of light restoration, shield good. 09/03/23
