The Ford Opus was one of the more unusual vehicles to be created using Anglia bits 'n' pieces. Dating from the late 60's early 70's and with all the chassis parts coming from the Ford Anglia 105E the fibreglass body was manufactured by Marcos and a windscreen was an optional extra. This car was designed to be a cheap way of building your own hot rod with kits costing around £150. A copy of an original sales advert is included within the sale.
This car presented in gold metal flake over red is supplied with three nylon roofs red, yellow, white and green fabric original. Fitted with two different size spare wheels due to the difference in size between front and rear wheels. The vehicle was said to have been built by its previous keeper as a wedding present, the wife was not impressed and it saw little use before passing on to its new keeper in 1993 with around 800 miles only showing.
The original speedometer stopped working at 01,015 miles in 1995 probably due to lack of use and was replaced with a used item showing around 34,500 miles which seems to indicate an overall mileage of less than 1,500 miles since it was built.
The original failed speedometer is included in the sale.
The vehicle has only been used for shows and to take Santa to the local Christmas light switch on.
