Cole - Foxing to advert and frontis, minor offsetting from frontis to title, title and dedication 6mm shorter than other pages, occasional foxing spot but contents otherwise clean, hinge of rear endpaper split and frayed, hinge weak, hinge of front endpaper starting. Ms. name to front pastedown, cloth tired and rubbed with a little wear to head and tail of spine.
Dohne - xlii, 417 pages (collated), title a little age tanned, first gather loose but present, stab stitch holes visible in gutter margin throughout book suggesting cloth is later, occasional foxing spot but contents generally clean, closed edges a little tanned. Both endpapers split at hinge, ms. name and a label residue to front free endpaper, cloth a little tired with wear to head and tail of spine and corners.

Auction: Books, Maps & Manuscripts, 18th May, 2022
Over 180 lots to include a broad selection, from early antiquarian books to modern first editions, alongside illustrations, private press, manuscripts, maps and atlases, early photographs, and historic documents. Amongst the highlights is a group of Victorian ephemera including a Paper Peepshow of the Thames Tunnel, and a very unusual leaf-cut picture of workers around a derelict tower and trees. Of North-East interest is a collection of approximately 240 19th and early 20th century photographs, and an outstanding archive of early drawings and plans relating to Radcliffe and Broomhill Collieries.
