Each presented to Norman Leonard Hanson (1909-1991), the first in 1943 when he was elected President of the Transvaal Provincial Institute of Architects, the second in 1947-48 when he was elected President-in-Chief of the Institute of South African Architects.

The department handles items spanning five hundred years of the silversmiths’ craft, from antique silver made by the likes of Paul Storr, Robert Hennell, Robert Garrard and the Chawner Family to pieces by the top names in modern and contemporary silver design such as Gerald Benney, Stuart Devlin, Hector Miller and Brian Asquith.
