Lot 2171

2171

Taxidermy: A Cased European Badger (Meles meles), by W.C. Shelbrooke, Taxidermist, 65 Friar's Street, Bridgnorth, Shropshire, a high-quality full mount adult with head turning very slightly to the right, stood upon painted simulated soil groundwork, amidst grasses and ferns, set against a watercolour painted woodland scene back drop, enclosed within an ebonised oak framed three-glass display case, 98.5cm by 33cm by 54.5cm, rare to find taxidermist's full paper trade label to verso. W. C. Shelbrooke was previously employed by Peter Spicer & Sons, Leamington, hence the similarity within the case composition and good-quality painted back drop.
