These and lots 2199, 2205 and 2206 were all collected by the vendors Great Aunt the late Dr Mary Cram (nee Redhead), she was a Methodist medical missionary surgeon in China in the 1930’s. Mary visited twice, firstly as a single lady and a surgeon, 'what an amazing lady just to be a surgeon at that time, never mind going out to China on her own!' She met her husband out there in Wuhan who was a Methodist clergyman, they had a child there, John, hence the small child’s red coat and shoes.
