Veronica 'Vee' Papworth (1913-1992) was born in North London, and from the age of 17 began working by illustrating gentlemen's clothes in catalogues. In 1946 she jointed The Star illustrating and commentating on women's fashions, leading on to discuss beauty, fitness and how to run a home etc. By the late 1950s she was employed by the Sunday Express to write her own column, which she wrote about numerous subjects, incorporating her stylish fashion drawings.
