A Victorian Silver and Coral Rattle
by George Unite, Birmingham, 1861

baluster and chased with foliage and flowers, with a single row of seven bells, with whistle and suspension loop at one end and coral teether at the other

Marked on ferrule with lion passant, town mark, duty mark and date letter, struck on whistle with maker's mark. There is some surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. One bell lacking. The coral teether has been re-glued.
