An Indian Colonial Silver Pepperette
by Pittar and Co., Calcutta, Mid 19th Century

cylindrical and on spreading foot, with gadrooned rims, chased with a figure and pigs in a farmyard scene, the pull-off cover with baluster finial
10cm high, 3oz 13dwt, 113gr

Marked under foot with 'P&Co' maker's mark, lion passant and 'A'. There is some wear to the marks but each is still legible. There is some overall surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. The wear is noticeable as a softening to the high points. The chasing may be later.
