Taxidermy: A New Zealand Tui (Prosthemadera novaeseelandiae), circa early 20th century, a full mount adult looking straight ahead, perched upon a turned and painted perch, enclosed beneath a period oval glass dome, mounted upon a later painted oval base, 30cm by 14cm by 37cm,
The tui is an endemic bird of New Zealand. It is mostly black, although there is some iridescent green/purplish colours mixed in with the black. The tui is so iconic of New Zealand that there is even a beer named after it.
