an urn motif within an oval frame set throughout with old cut and rose cut diamonds, in white claw and collet settings, overlaid upon a blue enamel ground within a yellow scroll border, the reverse with a locket compartment containing two locks of hair and engraved Robert and Eleanor Towns Bequest to Hannah Brown 1840. Harriet Braddyll a remembrance from Hh Brown Obit Dec 21 1878, total estimated diamond weight 1.65 carat approximately in a fitted case labelled ?r Upton, late Aumonier, Jeweller, Silversmith, Diamond Worker and Watchmaker, 153 Leadenhall St

The brooch is in good condition with minor nicks to the enamel. It fastens with a pin and c-hook catch. It bears no hallmark nor stamp but in our opinion would test as gold and silver. The principal diamond measures 6.02mm x 5.11mm, depth unobtainable. The approximate qualities of the diamonds are; colour J/K/L, clarity I1/I2/I3. Gross weight 15.8 grams. CR made 05/02/24.
