Taxidermy: A Cased Common Carp (Cyprinus carpio), dated 1888, by W.M, Gibson, Naturalist, 19 Richmond Grove, Barnsbury, London, preserved and mounted within a naturalistic setting of weeds, reeds and grasses, above a pebbled river bed, set against a pale blue painted back drop, enclosed within a typical bow fronted three-glass display case with verre eglomise border, 73cm by 18cm by 36.5cm, taxidermist's small paper trade label to interior upper right, bearing hand written paper legend to interior upper left - "Carp, Taken by D. Slater, 27th Sept 1888, weight 7¼ lbs" including original line, hook and sinkers, this particular Carp was the Work of Charles and Henry Gibson, son's of William Gibson, it was taken to the East End of London to be mounted during the very week Jack the Ripper committed two murders in close proximity to Gibson's premises, see "The Domesday Book of English Fish Taxidermists", page 211, author Barry Williams.
