Papal States, 2 x Bronze Medals: (1) Pope Leo XI commemorative; Leo XI died on the 27th April 1605, 27 days after his election on 1st April; obv. LEO.XI. PONTIFEX OPT.MAX.ANNO 1 around bust, rev. bunch of roses in bloom, SIC FLORVI 'Thus Did I Blossom' (a reference to his short reign) in scroll below, all within a wreath, 45mm, 49.2g & (2) Pope Gregory XIII (1572-85) obv. ANN.VII. GREGORIVS XIII.PONT.MAX around bust , rev. armorial dragon (appears on the arms of Gregory XIII) on steps outside Holy Door, VIGILAT in legend, lightly cleaned, 45mm, 41.6g; both medals cast bronze, probably late 18th century, both AVF
