Bengal Tiger (Panthera tigris), circa 1910-20, Van Ingen & Van Ingen, Mysore, skin rug with head mount, 285cm long tip to tail, 204cm across forelimbs, with black stencil mark VAN INGEN & VAN INGEN, MYSORE, 253 18 and with original vestiges of cleaning label See illustration

Front right paw with three claws extent. Front left paw five claws extent. Rear left paw three claws extent. Rear right paw four claws extent. NB one detached claw retained. Overall colour heavily faded. Thinning in various parts, particularly the armpits. Large hole just to left of head (mice chewing) and another close by. Numerous puncture holes across the skin and some tearing on the edge. Rear left paw damaged and some of the lining material is coming away. Tear across the tail (but still attached). Edges of the ears split. Nose leather damage. Jaw with original teeth which are in good condition, just some flaking on the gums. The canvas base lining has some white canvas ribbon attached for wall hanging. Sold a/f. 040511
