Mixed Silver Proofs and Sets, to include: 2 x Elizabeth II silver proof crowns 1977 'Silver Jubilee', individually encapsulated in Royal Mint cases of issue with certificates of authenticity, lightly toned with toning spots, FDC; 7 x UK Proof Sets, comprising: 1970, 1971, 1977, 1978, 1979, 1980 and 1981, in Royal Mint envelopes; British Virgin Islands proof set 1975, 7-coin set from $1 to 1 cent struck by the Franklin mint to commemorate the Islands' first official coinage, in case of issue with certificates of authenticity; Britain's First Decimal Coins specimen set; Silver Jubilee 1977 7-coin set from crown to ½p; EEC silver medallic first day cover, post marked Edinburgh 3rd January 1973, with accompanying leaflet in box of issue; and a quantity of pre-decimal currency, including halfpennies 1971, pennies, sixpences etc. many in high grades. To include the Geoff Hann Collection. The Collection covers the coinage produced by the first Greek general-kings who established their own dynasties in Egypt, Syria and the Indian-subcontinent, and the later Provincial coinage of the Roman Empire. Of note is lot 6, a silver stater of Seleucus I Nicator produced in Babylon between 311-305 BC (estimate: £300-500 plus buyer’s premium). The Collection also includes a quantity of early 20th century banknotes from the period of British direct rule in India, and a reference library of over one hundred volumes including scarce and out-of-print works. Of particular note is the first edition of David Sellwood’s An Introduction to the Coinage of Parthia, published by Spink & Son in London, 1971 (estimate: £70-100).
