A South Africa Medal 1834-1853, awarded to W.ROBERTS. 45TH REGT.
Footnote:- William Roberts served with the 45th Regiment of Foot (Nottinghamshire) (Sherwood Foresters), in the Eighth Xhosa War. This was a war between the British Empire and Xhosa (known in the 19th century as the Kaffirs) as well as Khoikhoi forces, between 1850 and 1853. It was the eighth of nine Xhosa Wars.
