A George V Indian Army Rifle Brigade Sword, the 82cm fullered steel blade etched with GRI cypher, and crowned strung bugle, by Walter Locke & Co Ltd., Calcutta, Lahore and Delhi, the nickel plated gothic hilt later painted gilt, pierced with a strung bugle and engraved WALTER LOUIS TANBURN I.A.R.2/1ST GOORKHAS, KILLED IN ACTION MESOPOTAMIA APRIL 13TH 1917, with wire bound fishskin grip, leather sword knot and plated scabbard, 101cm

. This is an 1827 pattern sword and dates to 1910 to 1917. There is black patching and orange pitting to the tip of the blade. The leather washer between the blade and the hilt is damaged. The hilt has been later painted gilt. There is rust pitting to the surface of the plated scabbard in places. The leather strap to the sword knot is shabby.
