A Mid 19th Century Bowie Knife by Reuss & Co., West Street, Sheffield, circa 1861, the 22cm spear point steel blade stamped at the ricasso with maker's trade mark of a rear facing rider on a galloping horse, the white metal covered crossguard and pommel embossed with American eagles, with horn grip scales, 33cm
Footnote:- Made at the beginning of the American Civil War.
Rust pitting to the blade, with nicks to both edges.Small areas of loss and wear to the white metal of the crossguard and pommel. One horn grip scale is missing a corner, the other has the impression of a shield escutcheon which is missing.
