A Rare 19th Century Large Folding Knife by Samuel Gill of Sheffield, the left side of 28cm straight blued steel blade with a central oval panel acid etched with the inscription "FOR THE GOLD SEARCHER'S PROTECTION", flanked by gilt foliate cartouche panels inscribed "Manufactured by Samuel Gill" and "....Sheffield", the ricasso stamped with maker's name, the grip scales of three types of horn inlaid with mother of pearl and divided by white metal panels, one side double stamped with maker's mark of a cockerel above S.GILL, the opposing side with a stag stamped OK and being pursued by a man with gun on a galloping horse, 58.5cm open, 31cm closed, circa 1830-40

Nicks to blade edge with small areas of rust pitting. The locking lever for the blade is missing.

Highlights to include an extensive collection of police helmet plates, badges, belts, handcuffs, and helmets from the Victorian era and the first half of the 20th century, and an interesting collection of powder horns and flasks. The Ethnographica section includes is a Collection of Inuit Art comprising knives, weapons, utensils and decorative objects
